Women and Gender in an Era of Global Change:
Internationalizing and 'Engendering' the Curriculum

The goal of the project was to "enhance understanding in the university community of the international processes and differing national contexts which structure gender arrangements and to explore women's responses in their daily lives, forms of activism, and cultural contributions." As its central objective, the project sought to encourage University of Maryland faculty both at College Park and at other System campuses, representing a variety of fields, including women's studies and international studies, to incorporate into their courses new scholarship and theory about women in contemporary international contexts.

It also intended to build and support a more cohesive campus community of faculty concerned about international women's issues, and to recognize and support international women students at the UMCP campus. The project also anticipated disseminating the results of our work to a broader audience via a conference and manual of syllabi and resources. Read the entire final report, including a summary of project activities and their impact on the curricula, here.
